Decorative accents in stucco
The art of stucco, which from the 16th century has left us numerous and splendid examples of decorative accents in churches and palazzi all around Europe, has inspired young artisans to a renewal of the antique art form.
There is an understated elegence in the form and pattina that have been faithfully reproduced from the originals. As in olden times, each piece is individually made and therefore, no two will ever be alike These differences are the mark of authentic artisan workmanship.
From the study necessary to correctly restore antique stuccos, one is able to learn the techinques used in the past. These techniques are then again used in the production of new masterpieces.
Since stucco is in itself cold, the finishing used is most important; gold leaf, adding a pattina and adding marble accents is a necessity. This, in turn, creates even more "one of a kind" pieces.
