Events and Festivities in Gubbio

The medieval city of Gubbio is also one that is modern but steeped in tradition. It is a city rich in its celebrations and events both past and present. There is something for every one and in every season.

With the arrival of the spring, there is a desire to celebrate life while falling back one of the most heartfelt tradition the city has to offer. The Procession of the Crucified Christ is celebrated on Good Friday with bonfires lit throughout the streets of the city. May brings not only the flowers on the hillside but also the Festa dei Ceri on May 15. The end of the month brings about the Palio of the Balestra with those participating in medieval costume. Summer months brings about a vast variety of concerts throughout the city as well as theatre presentations held in the Roman Theatre. August brings about the traditional Tournament of the Quartieri.

Visiting the city is just as enlightening during the months of November and December with the White Truffle and Food Products Exhibition. December brings about the lighting of the largest Christmas Tree in the World, the Concert Under the Tree and the life size Crèche scenes in the downtown area.
