Reintroduced into Gubbio after 24 centuries, bucchero is still made entirely by hand. Once the piece is thrown and then air dried, it is sanded down with steel wool to make a smooth surface. It is then painstainkingly rubbed with wooden sticks until a shiny surface is obtained. The object is then covered in charcoal and fired in a kiln at 900°C devoid of oxygen.

Production is done entirely by hand

Each hand made piece is made with traditional means but will always point towards the future.
